In September 2014, Pew Research Center published a report entitled Global Public Downbeat about Economy. This report surveyed public opinion in 44 countries, and found that optimism about the economy over the next year has dropped sharply in Japan. At present, just 15% of Japanese people expect the economy to improve compared to 40% who were hopeful a year ago.
